Commencement[edit | edit source]

(1) Each provision of this Statute specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

1.  Part 1 and anything in this Statute not elsewhere covered by this table The day this Statute receives the Foundational Assent. 5 March 2021
2.  Part 2 (including the Constitution) The later of the following:

(a) a day to be fixed by Proclamation of the Enactor2; and

(b) the passing of the special resolutions under section 136 of the Corporations Act 2001 of the Parliament of the Commonwealth:

(i)   adopting this Statute;
(ii)  repealing any existing Constitution; and
(ii) adopting the Constitution as provided in this Statute.

However, the provisions do not commence at all if the event mentioned in paragraph (b) does not occur.

Relevant note from the Explanatory Memorandum[edit | edit source]

9. This clause provides for the commencement of clauses 1 to 4 of the Bill to be on the day it receives the Foundational Assent, and for the remainder of the Statute to commence on a day not earlier than a day specified by proclamation, and the passing of the special resolutions by Urabba Parks under section 136 of the Corporations Act 2001 of the Parliament of the Commonwealth to repeal any existing Constitution and adopt the Constitution as provided in the Statute.
