Resignation of member
A member may by writing addressed to the Speaker, or to the Manager‑General if there is no Speaker or if the Speaker is absent from the Commonwealth, resign as a member of the House, and the place of the member shall become vacant.

138. This section is based on the corresponding section of the Australian Constitution allowing for the resignation of a member of the House of Ordinaries.
