Member of one House ineligible for other

A member of a House of the Parliament shall be incapable of being chosen or of sitting as a member of another House.

Relevant note from the Explanatory Memorandum

146. This section, based on the corresponding section of the Australian Constitution, provides that a member of one House of the Parliament cannot be a member of another House. This section intends to confirm the separation of the Houses by preventing a person from being a member of more than one House.
