Allowance to members

(1)  The Parliament may appropriate monies from the Consolidated Revenue Fund for allowances for the members of the Houses of the Parliament, and subject to this subsection (2), a member shall receive the allowance so appropriated, to be reckoned from the day on which the member takes the seat of the parliamentary membership to which the member is chosen.

(2)  Unless the Parliament provides for an allowance for members of Houses that is also an approved benefit falling in item 1 of the table in subsection 90(3), each member of a House of the Parliament shall serve on an honorary basis.
