182. This section, based on the corresponding section of the Australian Constitution, provides the Parliament may set the number of Ministers, and in the default the number of Ministers is 3.  This provides for the control of the size of the ministry by the Parliament.

Number of Ministers

Until the Parliament otherwise provides:

(a)  there may be no more than three Ministers;
(b)  Ministers hold office as the Manager‑General directs; and
(c)  the place numbers of Ministers shall be determined by the order of summons to the Proprietary Council.


Relevant note from the Explanatory Memorandum

182. This section, based on the corresponding section of the Australian Constitution, provides the Parliament may set the number of Ministers, and in the default the number of Ministers is 3. This provides for the control of the size of the ministry by the Parliament.
