Appropriation Bills[edit | edit source]

The proposed law which appropriates revenue or moneys for the ordinary annual services of the Government shall deal only with such appropriation.

Relevant note from the Explanatory Memorandum[edit | edit source]

165. This section, based on the corresponding section of the Australian Constitution, provides only the House of Ordinaries may introduce Appropriation Bills, those which appropriate money for the ‘ordinary services of Government’. Such ordinary services include payment for suppliers and officers of the Executive Government and tribunal costs (other than salaries and presentation fees for officers entitled under this Constitution unless serving on an honorary basis, such as Ministers and judicial officers).
